Duke of Edinburgh Award

In the Air Cadets we get the opportunity to do the Duke of Edinburgh award this consists of Bronze, Silver and Gold. This award is a great opportunity; it will give you skills, confidence and a view on life that everyone is looking for, from employers to colleges and universities. Plus you will make a difference to other people's lives and your community, be fitter and healthier, make new friends and have memories to last you a lifetime. For each programme you finish you will receive a badge to wear proudly on your uniform!

Bronze

The first step of DofE is bronze you have to be at least 14 to do your Bronze DofE programme.

Silver

The next step up from Bronze... you need to be at least 15 to start doing your Silver DofE programme.

If you start the Silver without doing Bronze first you will have to do an extra six months volunteering or doing whichever of the Physical or Skills sections you have spent more time on.

Gold

Once you hit 16 you can do your Gold DofE programme.

If you have jumped straight into your Gold DofE programme you will need to do a further six months either volunteering or whichever one of your physical or skills activities you spent the most time on.

The big difference at Gold is you will also do a Residential section - staying away from home for five days and four nights doing a shared activity with people you do not know. Its great fun and a real chance to
