Shooting
At are squadron we are lucky to have a shooting range which is in are grounds. In the Air Cadetss we shoot two different weapons. The .22 rifle is the first weapon you will handle because it is a very simple weapon to operate. The L98 A2 will be the second weapon you will have a chance to use this rifle it is a more difficult weapon to use as it is semi automatic.
Before you use any of the two weapons you will have a number of lessons. These lessons are for safety and learning all the parts of the rifles. Before you get your hands on any of the rifles you will have to do a weapon handling test, this test is used for the safety of yourself and others and to become familiar with the weapon. After you have done the above you will get the chance to fire the rifle and if you wish you can go forward to do marksman qualification; of which there are five different levels:
- Squadron Wing
- Region
- Corps Cadet 100 and Cadet 500
